Penyebaran virus corona di dunia semakin luas. Hingga Minggu (22/3/2020)
pagi, data John Hopkins University, menunjukkan, ada 304.528 kasus
terinfeksi, 12.973 orang meninggal dunia, dan 91.676 orang sembuh.
Data sehari sebelumnya, 271.629 kasus, 11.282 orang meninggal dunia, dan 87.403 orang sembuh.
China masih mencatatkan kasus tertinggi, yaitu 81.305 kasus.
Kabar baiknya adalah obat generik favipiravir dengan merek Avigan dinyatakan efektif mengobati pasien dengan penyakit Covid-19.
Namun, obat ini rupanya memiliki serangkaian efek samping yang tidak semudah itu diaplikasikan kepada penderita Covid-19.
Padahal pemerintah juga telah memesan 2 juta butir obat dari Jepang.
"Obat ini sudah dicoba oleh satu, dua dan tiga negara dan memberikan
kesembuhan," kata Presiden Jokowi dalam konferensi pers yang ditayangkan
di akun YouTube Sekretariat Presiden, Jumat (20/3/2020).
Namun, Presiden Jokowi menegaskan, bahwa kedua obat ini bukanlah antivirus corona.
Sejauh ini, antivirus penyakit tersebut diketahui belum ditemukan.
"Mengenai antivirus sampai sekarang belum ditemukan, dan ini yang saya sampaikan itu tadi obat," kata Presiden Jokowi.
3. Klorokuin Bukan Obat untuk Cegah Corona, Tapi Obat Keras untuk Peyembuhan, Begini Efek Sampingnya
Presiden Republik Indonesia sebelumnya mengumumkan telah memesan dua jenis obat untuk pasien virus corona atau Covid-19.
Kedua jenis obat yang disebutkan yakni Klorokuin dan Avigan
Sejak saat itu, banyak masyarakat yang memburu Klorokuin di apotek maupun secara online.
Mereka beranggapan bahwa meminum Klorokuin bisa mencegah infeksi virus corona.
Padahal, obat yang diketahui berasal dari ekstrak kulit batang pohon kina tersebut bukan untuk pencegahan Covid-19.
Juru bicara pemerintah untuk penanganan virus corona, Achmad Yurianto,
telah menegaskan bahwa Klorokuin bukanlah obat untuk mencegah infeksi
virus corona.
Oleh karenanya, masyarakat tidak perlu membeli atau menyimpan Klorokuin sendiri di rumah.

Supporting Unit dari Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia (FKUI),
dr Nafrialdi, PhD, SpPD, juga angkat bicara.
Ia mengatakan masyarakat salah besar jika menggunakan Klorokuin sendiri tanpa resep dokter sebagai pencegahan virus corona.
Hal itu disampaikannya melalui wawancara Kompas.com via telepon pada Minggu (22/3/2020).
Pasalnya, Klorokuin bukanlah obat untuk cegah virus corona, melainkan obat untuk penderita penyakit malaria.
Klorokuin diketahui juga diresepkan untuk penderita lupus dan rheumatodi arthritis atau radang sendi.
Sebagai terapi untuk pasien Covid-19 sekalipun, obat ini juga bukan lini
utama, melainkan hanya tambahan di atas terapi standar untuk pasien
positif Covid-19 yang bergejala berat.
"Tapi (obat ini) disinyalir ada efeknya buat virus virus corona, meskipun belum established (ditetapkan)," ujarnya.
Meski demikian, soal efektifitas Klorokuin terhadap Covid-19, masih
perlu dikumpulkan data lewat uji klinis yang membandingkan ratusan
pasien Covid-19 yang diberi Klorokuin dengan yang tidak diberi.
