Pada tahun 2018 lalu, Herayati si anak tukang becak berhasil lulus S1 berpredikat cumlaude dengan IPK 3,77 dari Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB).
Belum ada satu tahun semenjak lulus S1, Herayati si anak tukang becak kembali buat publik terkagum-kagum.
Gadis 22 tahun yang berasal dari Cilegon, Banten ini, berhasil menyelesaikan studi S2 di ITB cuma dalam waktu 10 bulan.
Tak sembarangan, gadis kelahiran 17 April 1997 itu berhasil lulus S2 dan mendapat predikat cumlaude dengan IPK 3,8.
Mengutip Tribun Jabar, Herayati mengaku sudah mulai tertarik untuk kuliah di ITB sejak berada di bangku SMP.
“Saya masuk ITB tahun 2014. Awalnya diceritakan sama guru SMP yang alumnus ITB, dan beliau ternyata dapat beasiswa full. Dari situ Hera pengen kuliah tapi dapat beasiswa full,” ungkap dara yang akrab dipanggil Hera itu.
“Nah yang Hera tahu cuma ITB doang. Yang dipikiran cuma ITB dan ITB. Selain itu, Hera juga suka sama kimia pas SMA. Dan jurusan kimia terbaik di Indonesia memang ada di ITB.” imbuhnya.
Namun awalnya, Herayati mengatakan jika keputusannya untuk kuliah di ITB sempat membuat kedua orangtuanya, Sawiri (67) dan Durah (63), khawatir.
Namun beruntung, orangtuanya diyakinkan oleh tetangga, hingga akhirnya memperbolehkan Herayati berkuliah di ITB.
“Orangtua dibilang sama tetangga, ‘Sudah Pak, Hera mah dikuliahin saja’. Nah pas Hera bilang mau ke ITB, orangtua sebenarnya khawatir tapi enggak pernah bilang ‘jangan’. Jadi mungkin khawatirnya dipendam.
“Bahkan orangtua saya bilang, ‘masalah biaya urusan belakangan yang penting masuk dulu’,” sambungnya.
Berkat dukungan kedua orangtua, keinginan, dan kedisiplinannya, Herayati berhasil membuktikan jika ia mampu menjadi salah satu lulusan terbaik ITB.
Bahkan kini, Herayati sudah menjadi dosen kimia di Universitas Sultan Agung Tirtayasa meski usianya yang masih terbilang sangat muda.
“2018 lalu saya diminta datang ke Untirta, tapi saat itu saya baru lulus S1, sementara jadi dosen minimal S2,” ungkap Hera, dikutip Grid.ID dari Kompas.com.
Herayati, akan mulai mengajar kimia dasar untuk para mahasiswanya pada September 2019 nanti.
